One of the conveniences of a home is having heating ventilation and air condition. Heating ventilation is something that would require holes either on the floor, walls or the ceilings. This is where vent covers comes into the picture and provide the perfect solution. Vent covers provide aesthetic designs on these holes at the same time allow hot or cool air to pass through. Home owners get to choose various deigns. These decorative covers range from wood, metal and plastic. Designs also vary from the simple to highly decorative ones.

Vent covers functions in many ways aside from being a decoration. The styles like the louvers are made in order to regulate airflow. One will have the option of adjusting it by decreasing or increasing the flow. Sometimes one can even use it to redirect the airflow. This is what air deflectors are for. It sits on top of the vent cover. The functions are simply ideal when one wants to direct the airflow on the lower part of the room or on various parts. Ever heard of those magnetic covers? Made from thin sheeting, these particular vent covers provide easy way to limit airflow. This popular among users because it can wallpapered, painted and even carpeted. It’s so easy to blend it with the type of room where it was installed. One just has to be careful about painting since these can easily chip off if not done well.

Wooden vent covers cost higher than the metal ones. The best thing about them is the anti-allergens feature because of the built-in filter. There are many standard sized wooden vent covers available but if these wouldn’t fit the hole on your wall or ceiling, custom-made vent covers are also available. These can also be painted.

Maintaining and cleaning vent covers are easy. Clean them using brush or you can simply make do with duster. Running them with a vacuum hose is also possible. Filters in the vent covers collect dust and some debris. Replacing the filter will easily solve it. It is important to clean vent covers regularly to save you from cost and prevent health issues. When debris are left in the vent covers, these will easily get in the way of air-conditioning system causing it to work harder and will cost one much on energy consumption. The dust if left in the vent cover will produce dirty air. This is hazardous especially when some members of the family have asthma.

So the next time you shop for vent covers, choose which best fits your room and how you intend to blend it with the décor. Maintaining cleaning them are also factors to consider.

When one looks at the air condition vents, it seems that its function is pretty much simple. The truth is it does more than that. Air conditioning vents are responsible for expelling either exhaust or cool air. You must have seen those portable air con units where a hose is being extended outside in order to get rid of the exhaust. For homes or offices where air conditioning is centralized, the hole on the walls or ceilings in which air passes through is called air conditioning vents. It is important that this type of vent is properly installed to ensure air condition’s maximum performance is truly working and giving the owners the right advantage.

Air conditions are valuable during hot days and if one just wants to use it most of the time, he should try to check some factors. If vents are not properly installed, it’s going to create problems. Hot air can sometimes leak into the cooled room. Sometimes when a vent is blocked, this will push the air condition unit to work harder until the desired temperature is reached. Another problem caused by poor installation is malfunctioning of the unit fan. This will occur is the vent is not sealed accordingly. Most owners for central conditioning system rely on the professionals to do the job. Openings in windows and doors must also be inspected since this is likely going to

Installation kits for portable air condition provide procedures on how to seal the vent location tightly. This is more like what technicians used when installing car stereos. Still, one must know how to install it properly to prevent heated air to be expelled right back into the room.

There are also times when air conditioning vents’ poor installation causes cold drafts. This is a situation where the room is colder than the average condition. It is essential that air quality provided by the units should work appropriately. Leaks should be addressed immediately so as to prevent further damage. The functions of the ventilation also include removing moisture as well as the unpleasant odor. You will know if it’s working properly if air outside is being brought in to keep the air inside circulating. This is very much preventing air to get stagnant.

While we marvel at the convenience that the air conditioning vents provide, it always help if one makes sure that they are properly installed. It does not only save one from costs on repair but it also lets you experience the benefits that it gives.

Do you have rooms in the house that you are not using, say a room left vacant by your kid who left for college? You can put a vent cover over the register in that room that you do not use and save the energy it takes to heat that room. Your child is off to college or boarding school, why pay to heat his room both at home and at school dormitory?

Is there a room in your house that is warmer than the rest of your abode? You can put a magnetic vent cover over just part of an air conditioning vent and restrict the amount of air leaving that register. Save money and conserve energy by not overheating one or more rooms that’s more than necessary.

Do the furnace sits in the cellar with a heating register by the furnace designed to heat the cellar? Put a vent cover over the register and save energy by not heating an unconditioned cellar.

What about large bedrooms or two heating registers in the room? Place one vent below the window and another vent below the 2 ton antique wood cabinet with a huge mirror. Placing a vent cover over the register under the heavy dresser would save energy and protect the dresser. Also, it saves energy by not overheating your underwear.

The heat saving vent cover has been designed to eliminate heat loss through air conditioner vents during colder weather. When it gets cold you need to close the vent blades to eliminate heat loss through the ceiling vents. If you don’t there is significant loss of warmth from the heated areas of the house into the air conditioner ducting system. Even if a cover is placed over the exterior air conditioner unit the ducts still remove a large amount of warmth from the living areas of the house or office.

If it gets warm again the vents need to be re-opened to allow the air conditioner to cool the areas; meaning the vent blades need to be repositioned so that air flow is directed to those parts of each room that need to be cooled. When the weather cools again this procedure has to again be reversed. At the end of winter this entire process is repeated. This isn’t always done as people tire of the process and tend to leave the vent blades open throughout winter. The Vent Cover makes the process much simpler and safer as they only need to be popped on and off; the vent blades are still in their desired position.

There are two options for installing Vent Cover

Option 1.

You can remove the vents and slide the collar over the top before replacing the vent.

Option 2.

You could fix the collar directly onto the border of the vent.

Vent Covers are made from light weight thermal moulded HIPS (high impact polystyrene) plastic. They are long lasting and easily cleaned. They look neat and tidy.

The Vent Cover features:

BENEFITS

Convenience

There is no need to change the position of the vent blades as they remain in the position they have been set indefinitely.

Economy

Save on heating bills as the heat generated is retained and not lost through the air conditioner ducting system.

Time saving

Much faster than opening and closing each individual vent blade.

Cleaner

The heat saving vent covers impede the flow of smoke, ash and dust from wood heaters meaning the ducting system and vent blades are kept cleaner.

Fire safety

In the event of a fire the heat saving vent cover would block oxygen from feeding the fire.

Environmental

Benefits are gained when heat loss is reduced requiring less energy use to maintain comfortable room temperature. Once the nitial installation is complete the Vent Cover takes very little time to put up or remove.

If you have replaced your evaporative air-conditioner with a recycled air conditioner you can use Vent Cover to permanently cover the old vents. This is a much simpler and more cost effective solution than to have someone remove the old vents, gyprock over the hole left in the ceiling and then re-paint the entire ceiling. Phew!!

Ventcover.com.au is a small family operated business, that came about after it found that we were not getting the best performance for our heating dollar.
Like most families we need to have a cool house in the Riverina summers, however, we found as the story below tells we had trouble maintaining a warm home in the winter and were losing money in the process.

Janette of Kooringal had this very idea because she was so concerned at the loss of heat through her large evaporative air-conditioning vents during the winter months. She noticed that heat in the house flows directly up through the air conditioning vents and into the atmosphere. Open vents were making rooms a lot cooler, so she was not looking forward to her next heating bill.

To reduce this heat loss she tried blocking the vents with plastic cling film just before the onset of winter. Janette noticed her rooms stayed warmer for longer and that her heating bill was lower than normal with the vents covered.

Janette thought that there had to be a better alternative to plastic cling wrap – it wasn’t a good look when visitors came over.

Janette tried contacting various companies and government agencies for a solution but found nothing. However, an internet search turned up “Heat Saver Australia” – a company founded by Adrian Cotter and located in Parkes N.S.W.

Adrian designs and manufactures (that’s right, not made in China) a range of low profile Heat Saver vent covers that neatly fit over the air-conditioning outlets in the home or office – without the need to close the directional vents.

When contacted by Janette, Adrian traveled from Parkes to install the first Heat Saver vents in Wagga Wagga. The fitted cost was low and Janette thought she should be able to recover the initial outlay within the first year or two.

Covering unused vents can save the householder around 20%* of their heating costs and reduce green house gas emissions. A sensible and practical approach to saving money and the environment.

*Twenty per cent is a significant saving, particularly for people on fixed incomes or pensions.
